Basically line up a new 9005 next to your old 9006. You'll see that the mounting tabs on the base are very similar, but not exactly the same. All you need to do is clip off the part of the tab on the 9005 that extends farther than on the 9006.
 Then, just clip out the extra groove inside so the socket can slide on.
 That BMW writeup calls for using a dremel, etc. It's two little pieces ofplastic you need to cut off. No biggie.
